The International Association of Constitutional Law will hold its next World Congress of Constitutional Law from 6-10 July 2026 at the Universidad Externado de Colombia. The theme of the Congress is Sustainable Constitutionalism: Answers for a Changing World.

The World Congress of Constitutional Law is an international event that brings together not only academics, legal professionals, government officials and students from around the world but also all social and economic actors interested in discussing and analyzing issues related to constitutions, constitutional jurisprudence, human rights, the separation of public powers, and political regimes, as well as the theory, philosophy, practical problems and contemporary challenges of this branch of law.

Join constitutionalists from around the world to discuss important issues in constitutional law and share ideas as a thought-leader on the Congress stage!

Key Dates

The call for abstracts will run in 2 phases. 

  • The first phase is open now until September 30, 2025. During this phase we welcome abstracts that fit within any of the 36 curated workshops. 
  • The second phase is open until January 8, 2026. During this phase we will welcome abstracts that fit into any of the 36 workshops or any of the additional workshops that will be accepted in the first phase.
  • The third phase is open until February 11, 2026. During this phase we will welcome abstracts that fit into any workshops.

Acceptance of abstracts selected in the first phase will be notified by November 7, 2025, at the latest. Acceptance of papers selected in the second phase and the third phase will be notified. during the first week of March 2026, at the latest.

General regulations

  • Abstracts will be accepted in English, French and Spanish
  • Abstracts should be between 300-500 words in length. 
  • Include affiliation, short bio and contact e-mail address of the author. 
  • Please clearly indicate the specific workshop for which the abstract is intended, ensuring it aligns with the theme and focus of the session. You can see the full list of suggested workshops by clicking here.
