MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: All applicants must provide proof of acceptance for their proposed panel or individual presentation at the Congress. Applications without this proof will be rejected in limine.
1. Definition of junior scholar
For the purposes of this Programme, a “Junior Scholar” is defined as an individual who meets ALL of the following criteria:
- Age criterion: Under forty (40) years of age at the time of the Congress.
- Academic level: One of the following:
- Current PhD candidate in Law or a related field; or
- Post-doctoral researcher within five (5) years of PhD graduation; or
- Junior faculty member (Assistant Professor or equivalent) within five (5) years of first academic appointment.
2. Definition of minorities
The Programme recognizes individuals from traditionally marginalized groups and minorities. Applicants may self-identify as belonging to one or more of the following categories:
- Gender minorities (women and LGBTQ+ individuals)
- Ethnic or racial minorities within their country or region
- Indigenous peoples
- Persons with disabilities
- Individuals from low socioeconomic backgrounds
- Individuals from underrepresented geographic regions within the Global South
3. Nationality requirement
Applicants must be nationals of countries classified as part of the Global South according to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) classification. The Global South corresponds to the UNCTAD grouping of developing economies according to the International Monetary Fund (2024), which includes countries from:
- Africa
- Latin America and the Caribbean
- Asia (excluding Israel, Japan, and South Korea)
- Oceania (excluding Australia and New Zealand)

4. Field of work
Applicants should demonstrate engagement, through an interdisciplinary approach, with the legal challenges arising from the sustainability of constitutional law and/or constitutional law for sustainability.
